LORELAI: You know, there are very few times in my life when I find myself sitting around thinking, “I wish I was married,” but today, I mean — I’m happy. You know? I like my life. I like my friends. I like my stuff. My time, my space, my TV.
Lorelai and Rory keep missing each other on the phone. Lane is told to move out of the dorm, Rory finds out she has to drop a class and Lorelai is worried about money.
Lorelai, Sookie and Michel get their first reservation for the dragonfly and Lorelai writes it on a gum wrapper. Michel is mad because it is a historic document. Lorelai and Rory can never catch each other on the phone and just leave each other voice mails. At Yale, Paris can’t stand Janet’s boyfriend and Rory just wants a power nap. You aren’t getting a power nap, Rory. She then goes to her first day swiping cards in the cafeteria and Dean calls her to ask if he can work construction at the inn. There is a line of people waiting so Rory makes them swipe their own cards. She may be the worst employee ever.
Meanwhile, Emily rings Lorelai when she is at Jason’s because Trix wants them to have a lunch. She tells Lorelai to get her hair cut because she doesn’t need another thing to be blamed for. Lorelai and Sookie are broke and can’t pay the contractor, Sookie suggests that Lorelai ask Luke for the money. Paris wants Lane to leave the suite because Lane knows about the professor so Rory talks to the other girls and they want Lane out. Bye bye Lane. Lorelai is finally getting her hair cut (or washed) and two seconds in and goes to Sookie furious for not being there to approve the sink. I was a hundred percent on Lorelai’s side. I know Sookie has a baby now, but she had promised she would be there.
Lorelai goes to Luke and asks him if they could go to dinner so she can talk to him. Meanwhile, Rory is told that she has too many classes and has to drop one of her classes. Lorelai goes to lunch at her parents and Trix is really digging into Jason and of course Emily. She also knows that Lorelai is having money issues and Richard argues with Trix. Emily has the biggest smile on her face during this argument. Rory goes to the inn looking for Lorelai and starts crying to Dean about everything while he comforts her. Meanwhile, Lorelai starts crying and breaks down in front of Luke who offers her the thirty thousand dollars that she needs for the contractors while she is crying into his shoulder.
Emily’s utter delight when Richard is going off at his mother.
