Gilmore Girls 3×21: Here comes the son

Lorelai: You have to sleep, it’s what keeps you pretty.

Rory is stressed out because it is finals time and she has so much to do, and not enough time. Lorelai finds out that the financial aid for Yale fell through.

My Review:

Rory and Lorelai are eating pie and talking about their Europe trip and Lane seems okay about her seventh day adventist college. By okay, I mean trying to best she can to deal with the fact that she is going to a school with two different parks for boys and girls. Lorelai just wants to know why on earth they would have separate parks. Rory is worrying about her finals and Lorelai is not worried about it at all – she knows that Rory will do really well. Luke tells Lorelai that Jess is gone but doesn’t want to tell Rory so he is waving at her through the back door. That is normal, Luke.

Jess went on a bus to California, which makes me ask why? That would have taken a hundred million hours and he is on the beach with a leather jacket, okay then. Back at home, Lorelai finds out that Rory doesn’t qualify for Yale financial aid anymore. Jess is terrified of the dogs at his dads house and threatens to bite one back.  Paris is not happy with Lorelai and Rory had to escape to Emily’s house to help her choose an outfit. Back in California, Jess looks like he is sweating to death. Take off the jacket, dude. At Emily’s we meet Miss Celine and she has so many references, she is also the comic relief in this episode for sure. Paris and Lorelai have a nice moment and a hug. Lorelai tells her that she should choose a college based on what she wants, not her mother or Jamie.

Miss Celine is even more excited to see Lorelai. Emily is less than excited about it and doesn’t invite Lorelai to stay for dinner. Richard is totally oblivious and completely makes a liar of Emily who says they have to have a quick dinner and leave to a book club. Lorelai just shakes her head at her mother and leaves. Rory just grabs her books and says to Emily ‘you are being stupid’ and walks out. Emily’s face in this moment is the best thing because Rory is being so honest with her. Lorelai tells Rory that Jess has gone after Luke runs back into the diner with his broom when he sees them. Back in California, Jess and his dad have an argument and Jess asks if he can stay there for a little while. Good riddance, Jess. Lorelai finds out that Rory is valedictorian and she is so happy, Rory on the other hand thinks of it as yet another thing that she has to do.

Episode Highlight:

Lorelai’s face when she sees that Rory is valedictorian, it is worth it all.
